Default Radiator strip color

I am not going to use NOS radiator hoses on the vehicle I am restoring, as they are hard to find, quite brittle and $$$. The reproduction hoses have the wrong color on the strip. It is the wrong red color, whereas the original hoses had a red/orange strip on them. Has anyone found a spray can product that closely mimics the original color? I don't have a reference to the original color, so if anyone has a picture of the strip on an original hose it would be nice to post it.
Thanks
Rusty Nelson

Rusty
Here is a picture of an old hose that I have. I believe that it is an original Ford hose. I do not know if it is an original (came on a Model A from the factory) or it is a 1930's replacement. The pictures was used in the last revision of the Restoration Guidelines.

or.... has the original red faded to orange/red over the last 90 years? I've seen white wall tires turn brown due to interaction with the rubber.

Bill,
Thanks. The picture appears to be an original hose, from what I see. The color looks like it is an original. Thanks for post it.

Even if you would paint/dye the red stripe, the hose would be incorrect. Take a good look at the texture of the hose that Bill posted. Notice the rough texture and the pronounced fibers on the hose. Original hoses were of this rougher texture than the current reproduction hoses. Save your money on the paint/dye.
