Clutch problems on my 35 pickup
I half to let the clutch peddle all the way out to take hold. I want to replace the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. Mine must not be correct for the truck. I am not sure what to do or ask for to correct the problem. I have a ford truck tranny with overdrive that I had in and the same problem . It would slip under pressure. I put the regular tranny 3 speed back in. I got a problem and not sure how to correct it.

Re: Clutch problems on my 35 pickup
Were you using the same pressure plate with both transmissions? The pressure plate is not clamping down on the clutch tight enough, it is most likely a pressure plate or linkage problem. If you are sure the linkage is adjusted correctly then I would guess the pressure plate. It could also be a contaminated flywheel letting the clutch disk slip.

Re: Clutch problems on my 35 pickup
How much free play on the clutch pedal? If the clutch don't bite till the pedal is all the way up, it's normally adjustment.
That's where I'd go first. Martin. |

Re: Clutch problems on my 35 pickup
Need more info. Is it the original 35 engine, does it have the 9in. dish flywheel, does it have the 9in. clutch and PP that goes down in the dish? If the pedle has about one inch free play before the thro bearing touches the fingers on the PP and with clutch to the floor you can put it in low gear with out it grinding the clutch should start grabbing about half way out. Ft Wayne Clutch has the best clutch and PP. Walt

Re: Clutch problems on my 35 pickup
Ft Wayne will rebuild & set up correctly what you send them. Be sure to tell them what you are working on to be sure that you have the correct PP & clutch. Quick turn around. Be sure to get the flywheel resurfaced while you have it apart.
