Default Mallory Unilite timing?

I have a Mallory Unilite distributor and a 57 intake and carb on my 56 T-Bird 312. What should I set the timing at, and should I change the plug gap from stock specs? The motor is stock with an automatic trans.

I'd set it between 6 & 10 degrees advanced then adjust slightly up or down to find what works best...
