My '55 Ford Mainline Project
Newbeee here. Here is my '55 Ford Mainline project. It has a 5.4L DOHC Lincoln Navigator motor, 4R70W Trans, aluminum drive shaft and Ford 9". All the body work is done and the drivetrain is in the car. It also has a front disk conversion and rack and pinion. I just got done wiring the MSD module to control the engine and will be moving onto the trans computer next. I just have to figure out what I did with the throttle position sensor...... Then it's off to a fabricator to figure out how to mount to the column to the rack as the engine is in the way... I look forward to updating this thread as my project moves along......

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
Welcome. That looks like it's going to be one nice ride. That ol' 55 should fly with that 5.4 set-up you have. Dan

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
Love you're car and the fact that you are using carburetors.
Confused why you need a throttle position sensor though. Sal |

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
That's a awesome project, if you have to scoop it try a 55 Tbird style or the old super duty trucks.

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
I'm pretty sure there are cog belt driven distributors out there for racing that could be used to handle the spark.

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
greetings to all, just joined the forum. Working on a 1956 ford wagon, and saw where you installed a 4r70w in your 55. I plan to install a 4r70w behind a rebuilt 312 I have in the wagon and I would like to know if you had to modify the trans tunnel, and what trans controller unit you used. I will be starting a thread on my build, looking forward to the group.

Re: My '55 Ford Mainline Project
For those asking about the ignition and distributor the MSD box he referred to in the OP uses the original cranks sensor to control the coils. There is no distributor, just the original 5.4 coils.
