Default Anyone using the Monroe 5821 shock on your 50s Ford

The fun continues here... Is anyone using a Monroe 5821 for there 55/56 Ford passenger car? If so, can I assume that you did not have to make any modification to the lower control arm assembly where the original shock bracket mounted? The 5821's look to have their own mounting ears. Will those mounting ears fit the control arm?

I'd hate to see someone modifying their a-arm to fit those springs. I have the same shocks in my '59 and had to slot the shock holes to fit my 2-bolt mounting. I'm now wondering if stock shocks may have been just fine.

I've seen adapters machined up to go from the stud type to the 2-bolt type. Look for a Monroe PDF file online (I posted one on the HAMB '52-59 Ford forum earlier today). That should be a big help to you.

I've used the Monroe gt gas reflex on my 57 Customline and it give a nice ride not to firm but doesn't wollow and used all the original hardware, go to the Monroe website and ring the support line, supply them with the measurements and they will match it got you. From memory they were from a Bedford application.

As far as I know, stock type shocks are readily available. Why change?
