Original unmolested Ford garage find!
I guess it is a model A long fordor sedan, but I wanted to show some pictures I took with my handy cell phone today! Went to install a new water heater for this elderly couple I know, I couldn't reach the vent pipe to remove it, so asked the gentleman if he had a ladder, he said no, but I have a 2' step stool in the garage. When he opened the garage my heart skipped a beat! It's a Ford and 100% original, last driven in the 60s & locked in the garage ever since! I would think the motor is stuck, hasn't been started in over 20 years. Tires still holding air! has pull down window shades, all the glass is still good! and ZERO rust. He will never restore it, and said he might give it to his grandson if he has an interest. This made my day!

Another case of 'I'm going to get back to it someday' and that day never arrives.

Re: Original unmolested Ford garage find!
I would ask the owner "Would you mind if I leave my contact information in the glove box in case your grandson does not want your car ?
I have received a 69 Javelin, a 70 Javelin and a 74 Hornet because of contact information left in the glove boxes of these cars. All running condition, rust free Calif cars and all were free, except the Hornet which I paid a dollar for, in case any heirs wanted their portion of the proceeds from the sale of their deceased parent's car. |

Nice car! First half of 1930, Murray built Town Sedan. Someone has installed the later 1931 steering support but everything else looks original ; nice door handles & correct horn. I would go back & show some interest in it.

Re: Original unmolested Ford garage find!
Amazing! I like hearing these stories, especially when some of us can do something to save these old autos.
Just more proof of what people have salted away for years and years. Yeah they're still out there. Reminds me of a friend whose 90+ year old father in-law recently passed and had a garage full of "I'm gonna fit it someday" projects including a '42 Olds that hasn't been touched since the 50s or 60s. He's trying to get it but family fighting over the estate may mean it gets sold in order to settle. Sad. |

Re: Original unmolested Ford garage find!
I don't think he will sell it, I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't have anywhere to put it, and I'm already heavily involved with a 36 pickup! It was just very cool to see that thing in there. Compared to what I have been working on for years now, that model A would be a very easy restoration, or just clean it up, get it running, and enjoy it as it is!
