Tire sizes again for 16"
.
I had my cut down to 16" wheels powder-coated and been looking for tires to put on them. In our club here in AZ the favorite is Goodyear 225/70 R16 I think they are very wide and I have been looking for a smaller but still tall tire but get dazzled by the numbers and need HELP! The rims are 4.5" wide What would the board advice. Thanks for your time. .... Last edited by Joop; 12-16-2018 at 10:33 AM. |

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
I have the 195/80R-16 on my car. They are made for electric cars. I think they are a little stiffer sidewall than some radials but they have very low rolling resistance. My garage has a very slight slope toward the door. If I am not careful and forget to put the parking brake on the car will start to roll out the door. Here is some info on the tires.
The Bridgestone Ecopia EP-02 is an all-season passenger tire. It comes as original equipment the RAV4 EV. The Ecopia EP-02 is specifically designed for plug-in electric vehicles. It does not do well in snowy conditions. The 195/80R16 Bridgestone Ecopia EP-02 has a diameter of 28.2", a width of 8", mounts on a 16" rim and has 739 revolutions per mile. It weighs 20 lbs, has a max load of 1609 lbs, a maximum air pressure of 44 psi, a tread depth of 8/32" and should be used on a rim width of 5.5-6.5". |

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
Bought these some years ago in CA
They are the cutdowns done in the '40s There is a fellow in Minnesota who bought a machine used in the '40s to do the cut down and he was looking into the feasibility to produce them, maybe it will work out one day. Keep those sugestions coming please |

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
As Quickchange says "205 x 80 8ply radials cockies here remove from Toyota Nissan utes & fit mud grips we buy with delivery miles only $25 kiwi $16-50 usd, each .ok on 35 v8 wires"
I took his advice and found some 205x80x16's brand new for $39.. The local tyre guys were removing them from new utes for farmers and putting muds on for them. He had 80 to dispose of. I didn't lose any top end speed, the speeedos still accurate and the ride is sooo much smoother than those hard crossply 21s I had on it.. heres a couple of pics before and after. Steve |

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
Jordan, those might be worth trying to import a set or two. Any ideas on shipping them to Danville? Just a thought but might do.

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
I know these are not what you want, too big/tall. Just providing so you can see what they look like. These are sold by Coker, and perhaps available elsewhere. The spare is different, the size of the other 4 will not fit in the spare fender well. The circumference of the two tire sizes is the same.

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
The look of those tires on a model A reminds me of when my daughters were small. They would put on my shoes and clomp around the house.

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
Hi Joop, did a quick search on 16 inch wheels. A few previous strings/posts on the subject. There are a lot more. Check em out, see something you like and the supplier is not in the post - PM the poster for info. Most of the them have pictures so you can see what they look like. Hopefully this will help you. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...16+inch+wheels https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...16+inch+wheels https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...16+inch+wheels https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...16+inch+wheels https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...16+inch+wheels |

Re: Tire sizes again for 16"
Here's a nice tire, anything narrow costs a pretty penny although these aren't as bad as some. https://www.cokertire.com/tires/styl...row-tread.html

Also noticed they have 185/70 HR 15’s which are the ones I use on my 1966 Porsche 912. I might get some for my Porsche. David Serrano |
