Holley 94 problem
Hopefully someone here can help me out with my carb issue. I have a 1951 f1 with a stock flathead v8. I put a replacement carb from national carburetor 3 years ago, truck ran great. A couple months ago the power valve was leaking, so I replaced it with one that was rated too low, so it was flooding out. Just went through the carb and put a correct power valve and kit from vintage speed, now the carb has to have a little more than 1/4 choke or it dies. I have checked for air and vaccum leaks, carb runs 17in hg of vaccum at idle. I thoroughly cleaned the carb when I had it down, probably only had 100 miles on it when I tore it down. I have checked and replaced the vaccum advance. What recommendations does anyone have?

Hows the air filter? Try running with this removed to check for restricted air flow?

Filter seems fine. Doesn't seem to affect it any when I take it off.

Re: Holley 94 problem
Sounds like your idle circuits are not working. I would take the carburetor back appart and verify each passage is clear and all gaskets are accounted for. I use water as hot as I can stand and "flow" each passage at the shop sink (with screen over the drain in case I drop something) when rebuilding a carburetor. I sometime have to clean a passage with a single strand of copper from a multi-strand wire to clear a clog.
