Just looking at photos the two look alike, can one be swapped for the other, or are there differances that won't allow them to interchange?

The only difference I have noticed is the way the captive nuts are attached, and the little murray man on the lower right cowl.

The murray cowl has a lot less wood and the dash panels are different. I am refering to the 28-29 models. The hinges are different on the 30-31 models. There are probably other differences. with some work they would probably interchange but it would hurt the value of an original car.

My first model A that I got in the spring of 1960 had a murray cowl , it was a strip down. I don't know if it had been a town sedan or a convertable cabriolet. The cowl lights had been melted off with a torch and it had the cowl band, so it could have been either one. It caught on fire and burned in the driveway in 1962 because of a leaking glass type sediment bowl. When I brought it back to life, after the fire I was only able to find a rough Briggs 1928 fordor cowl, the one with the vent in the drivers side cowl panel. Though it was just a fun car I wanted it to look as much like it did before. I welded up the cowl vent and constructed new cowl posts from cedar. I painted it red and put it on, it looked good to me. Moral of the story, people ask me what it was? Being as the motor number indicates sept. 29 I call it my September 29. Some have pointed out that it can't be a sept. 29 when they look inside the cowl and see where the vent was welded shut. Everybody thinks that they are a model A expert, whether they have ever owned a model A or not and will quickly point out whatever that they think is not correct. Any changes can hurt value, in this case it really didn't matter to me

I'm here to enjoy the hobby, and enjoy the cars no matter what they look like. Most of the worlds problems are electrical.
