Default (Another) OD Relay Question

I know I spend too much time on stuff like this,...still I have to ask. The reproduction 12V OD solenoid I have for my 51 Tudor has a mounting tab that is straight, meaning it would mount sideways (see pics) which I think would look dumb. I swear that when I added OD to my first 51 years ago, the mounting tab was 90 degrees to the case, with the embossed case top facing forward. Is my memory correct or ? I know, I could bend the tab if I want, but I don't relish putting a $150.00 electrical component in a vise. Any thoughts most welcome. Thanks.

Agreed. Risk of cracking tab if sharp angle is straightened. If it was mine, I'd mount it as is.

They were mounted with the cover pointing forward and not to the side. I've not compared them before but my old Mercs still have the original relays. They may have changed them in later years since Ford used them up into the very early 70s. If it fits then use it the way it is but it won't look like it did in 1951.

If you want to bend it, bend it. It will not break.

Make an adapter bracket that uses the original firewall holes and the holes in the new relay.
