Default 1929 Business Coupe w/ Opera Windows

My wife's late grandfather has a 1929 model a business coupe in his garage. It's in rough shape. Not rusty as I believe it has a coat of red oxide primer on it. Body is solid and all the fenders running boards are in his shed.

Our problem is what to do with the car. We live in Virginia and the car is in California.
I have no idea how to get it shipped to us.

I would also like to know what this car is worth as we are thinking about selling it locally.

If anyone could be of help I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks!

It is sitting on a 1928 frame. Lower firewall is cut, while not hard to replace it things like that are among the first things people see. I do not see the trunk lid, so will consider it missing. How good are the fenders? Is there a clear title that matches the numbers on the engine and frame? Lots to consider. Rod

It's been sitting for many years in his garage.
The trunk and hood may be in the shed with the fenders and side boards. I need to check.
I was told it had a bigger engine in it than original.

We have found no title for the car. I believe he bought it in close to its current condition.
I think we can get a title for it.

Where would the numbers be on the frame and engine? I'll try to get more pictures.

And any idea on what I could sell it for? Or a way to ship it?

Thanks guys!

Where in CA is it? You may have better luck selling it where it sits rather than shipping it to VA.

Not just better luck selling, but I'd say shipping would make a pretty serious dent in the profit.

Do you have a friend or family member in CA that could round up the parts, collect information (like the frame and engine numbers) and handle the sale?

I agree with COOTER...sell it "where is - as is" in CA. Many more buyers there. The shipping to VA would be in the $1500 range, which would kill any profit for you.

You may want to consider restoring it. It does not look that bad-outside of the firewall. I know there is a barner that does Model A transport, I think he is on the sticky at the top of the page.

You would have to really want the car to restore it. If it has some sentimental I would understand. Find someone trustworthy to take a look at it. And let them handle selling it. When it comes to cars that are taken apart like this. And have been sitting for a long time. Don't expect big money.

29 bus. Coupes are a desirable body style, but this is a pretty rough one. I wouldn't pay more than $2500, regardless of which coast it was on.

I would value it at 3000-3500. and sell it on CL from where it sits.

not worth shipping unless it really has meaning to you.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I really enjoy the car and may very well have one someday.
But this one is too far from my home and I don't even have a garage at my home in Va.

The car is in Santa Rosa California FWIW.
I will be posting it on CL tomorrow.

Thanks again!
