1946 from Bogota Colombia
I purchased a 69A-76B ID no 99A1240839 from a 30+ year old guy in Miami FL who inherited his dads 25 car collection from Bogata Columbia The Dad had a Chevrolet dealership in Bogata The Lad had 4 cars shipped to the US one being the 46 which I bought I believe it is mostly original with the odometer in kilometers I believe that the 46 spent its life in South America
Were cars from that era manufactured in the USA and shipped totally assembled or were they shipped in CDK kits to South America |

Hi Warren, Welcome to the 'Barn! Be patient for an answer to your question concerning where your car was built etc. as the guru on this subject is busy at the Grand National Meet in Dearborn. He may not be checking the posts at this time.

I have a friend in brazil with a 51 coupe. His car was built in Canada. It has the canadian data plate on the firewall and a speedo that reads in k/ph.

Re: 1946 from Bogota Colombia
Prior to WWII, there were assembly plants in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina, but there was very little manufacturing there and elsewhere in South America. From a manufacturing perspective, everything pretty much came from the U.S.A., be they for RHD vehicles (Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay) or the rest of the continent (LHD). The form was either SKD or CKD. I can't say for sure post WWII, but Ford of Canada's exports traditionally were confined to the British Commonwealth countries, but exceptions obviously exist.
