'50 F2 price?

Looking at a 50 F2. Seems to me they are worth some what less than the F1? This one the guys asking $6500. Add says runs and drives good, new brakes, needs minor cosmetic restoration. See attached? Too much, just right?

If it runs well and has very little rust ,I'd say it's definitely worth it. The F2s maybe less popular but they are also less common so it's a matter of taste. If you like it I would make an offer of say $5000 and see what happens.

Is it common to remove a couple of leafs to make the ride a little softer, or is it possible to use F1 springs?

I agree looks solid,the f2s have high rear gear.Going to back Rd truck.It all depends on what you are going to be doing and were you want to drive it.Check cab and sheet metal for rust and holes.A rust free running f2 no smoke 3500-6000 It all about condition. Other than the obvious ( suspension ) are they that much different than the F1's. I think they were only available with a long bed but F1 were available with the long bed. Assuming the chassis is heavier but is the cab / bed any different? Booked up a little on F1's but this came up and looked interesting. Guess I gotta go back to school?

F2s have heavier springs, bigger brakes, and a heavier rear axle among a few other differences. The F2 & F3 are both a bit harder to source the parts that are common to them only. You can haul a lot more and trailer a bigger package than the F1 for sure but they are more utilitarian and therefore less popular than the F1. We had an F3 when I was a kid and it rode like a lumber wagon but I loved the damn thing. I learned more about driving in that old truck than any other single vehicle when I was growing up. We could haul a 1500 lb bull in the bed with no problem (we custom built a stock rack to fit into the bed). We also had a big water tank for it when the windmill was on the fritz.

Probably sound like a dummy but can I put the F1 springs on the F2 to ease up the ride? Or, do I need to pull the springs apart and remove a couple of leafs. If so how many front and rear makes it a reasonable ride?

Offer him 5 grand. Leave the main and the first leaf on and every one afterwards.

Did the '50 have an open drive shaft or still have a closed torque tube?

Open drive started in '42 for the PU's, so yes, open drive.

Chuck Manzione http://www.chuckstrucksllc.com/ sells a 4.11 gear set for the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. They definitely made a difference with my Tonner's driveability. In my opinion if you're looking for a truck that can do some serious hauling and still get appreciated by onlookers, you can't beat the big trucks. Assuming the photos to be representative of its overall condition that F2 looks to be a keeper to me.
