Default 4 barrel carb opens passengers side

Hi Gents...
Building my Paxton/McCullough blown 8 BA. It will have a 4 barrel on a Edelbrock 452 manifold. I need a carb that opens from the left side (looking from the front). Does anyone have a suggestion (beside turn the carb around)? Thanks all

Sounds like your doing a blow through..? Your going to need a specific carb for that. Are you talking about the linkage setup needing to be on the passenger [USA] side?

I run the linkage on the pass side of both my 4bbls. There is a screw in the end of the primary shaft on WCFB carbs like I use. There is a special double d type washer under it that that fits over the shaft. The washer can't turn so I welded on an arm from an old Ford carb to retain the ball system. Works just fine.

Or you could use a cross over shaft to transfer action from one side to the other.

Thanks, all home made. As they say necessity is the mother of invention.

Why not turn it round? Gotta be the easiest option.

Why not turn it around? Well in my case, I wanted easy access to the idle adjustment, carb. vacuum and PCV ports.
And maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.

I used to do this sorta thing where the red arrow points. I learned my lesson the hard way not to do this sorta thing anymore even with a low pressure regulator. It was awful.

How do you know it's 'barbed'

So hose clamps tell you that the fitting is 'barbed'?

Really aimed at the OP that said suggestions beside turn the carb around. But I'm always interested in why folk do what they do, specially if it's nicely done like your cross over linkage.
Martin.

They're smooth (bubbled) and/or sharp barbed. The one on the carb is probably is a smooth single bubble barb fitting. Of course much worse if no barbs.

Me too, Martin. Got me thinking about maybe using a simple cable and u-shape cable sleeve arranged to pull instead of push the linkage on the driver side.

Thank all
I guess I'll build cross over linkage. I generally opt for an answer that doesn't involve additional monkey motion. I just thought someone might say WCFB XXXX opened from the other side. Thanks all
I'll follow up with pics of cross-over linkage, Again thanks all
