Default Bias ply vs. Radial

Good morning. Was thinking of putting a set of radials on my AV8 and wanted to know what the radial sizes would be for a 7.00x16 for the rear and 6.50x16 for the front? I`am not even sure I can use 2 different sizes with radials. Another question is how smooth a ride can the bias ply give. I`ve been looking at Coker Tire and can not find a lot of choices in 7.00x16. As I mentioned, I am going one size smaller on front to give a little rake. Any input is welcome. I only want to do this once.
Thank you

It's kind of hard to find tall skinny tires in a modern radial. on the 7.00x16, I would think something like a 225 16 but not sure if the aspect ration would be closer with the 85 series or something shorter like 75. We run 235x85x16 as a replacement for 7.50x16. You are probably stuck with high dollar classic tires like Coker to find a radial to replace a 6.50x16

If you do a quick search, you will find many previous posts on this subject. Personalnally, I'm sold on radials. I have a set of Coker 6.00x16 www radials on my avatar '35 fordor sedan, and Diamondback bw radials (7.50x16 rear & 5.50x16 front) on a hot rod I'm building. My cars ride and handle soooo much better with radials than they did using bias ply tires.

Plus 1 for radials. I have Coker bias looking radials on my Model A sedan. Over 23,000 miles. much better ride and handling. My Av8 roadster has 6.00/7.00 Diamondback radials and handles great. The cokers are a lot more traditional looking.

Also Coker classic radials are tube type and DB are tubeless. I have heard Coker's can be used tubeless, but have not tried them.

I have Coker Classic tires on the stock wheels on my '51. I am running them tubeless and it is about the only car I have that doesn't have a slow leak. Much better handling than the previous bias-ply re-pops. The ride doesn't seem any different.

Thank you for the valuable info. It gives me more information to have at my disposal when I talk with these classic tire dealers.

Farmer D, I ordered rims and tires through Coker for my 39 PU and very happy with the order from start to finish. The salesman asked a lot of questions and I knew after I made my payment this was done right.

I'm running the 3" WW 6.00x16 Coker classics and to me this truck drives better than my 77 F150 that have BF Goodrich radial TA's. I think the difference people experience with Bias-ply is with the cheaper nylon and the better polyester tires.

If you buy Coker tires from Summit Racing there is no shipping charge.

true story..but funny

years back we needed tires on our car,
I asked my wife what kind should I get.
She thought for a minute and answered, "Radio"
I looked at her and asked, "AM or FM"
