I want to thank all of you that have responded to my question on the t5 adapter for a model a bell housing . I have found the info helpful . I contacted Mr. Laine ,was helpful also but doesn't have the car anymore. What I am looking for is the thickness of the adapter plate its self.I have my patterns all I need is this measurement .It seems that the adapters that are out there are for hook ups for flat heads or auto trans and years after 31.

I have an adaptor plate for a T-5 tranny to a AA bell housing. - laying on a shelf. Exactly what measurement do you need? I can measure it today. BTW it is for sale. email works better for me when answering this type of question.. [email protected]

We have adaptors, petal shafts,pilot bushings, rear transmission supports,driveshafts, open rear drive kits, everything to put a T5 with the AA bellhousing in a model A.

I measured the one that I have with a dial caliper in several places and it is .500" +/- a few thousandths, depending on where I did it.
It appears that it is just 1/2" CRS that was cut to shape on a burn-out machine and then the holes were drilled and a coat of primer to prevent rusting.

OK, What is CRS? Apparently it's not aluminum if it needs primer to keep from rusting.

mine measured one half inch thick steel plate.

The one I have measures 1/2" also. I can't imagine it being made of cold rolled. I'll betcha' a large Dr. Pepper they are all burnouts from A 36 hot rolled.

Does this adapter plate go between the original clutch housing and the T 5 ?

It mounts between the bellhousing and the transmission.

Your term clutch housing is probably the same as our description as a bellhousing.

Sorry I meant between the flywheel housing and the bell housing, but it came out all wrong.
It makes sence that it should go between the Bell and the T5, otherwise the pedals will be hanging in the air.

Miff, you say that you now have the patterns for making your adapter? Where'd you get yours, and are they 'actual size templates,' or are they drawings with measurements, but not actual size? I'd like to get an 'actual size template' for making my own adapter if anyone has such, or if someone can direct me to a source.

I took my pattern off the back of the standard model a bell housing . I used paper ( like the back of a large note pad) drew center lines , centered it on the housing ,then took a hammer lightly tapping around the edges and the holes. It's like making a gasket. I did the same to the front of the t5 with a different paper marking centers also . That way I will be able to match it up with the bell housing pattern. Then measured all opening and bolt holes for correct sizes and reference.
