Wheel trueing
Does anyone know of a place or person that does wheel repairs? I just picked up a set of 19 for my ‘29 project. A couple have a bit of run out. I didn’t expect perfection but I’d like to get these close before I powder coat them. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Wheel trueing
Try Buchanan Spoke, Azuza, Ca. or Valley Wheels, Van Nuys, Ca.

Re: Wheel trueing
The one thing that I am a strong proponent of is truing the spoke by shrinking or stretching. The shrinking can ONLY be done with heat. If the rim is trued only using pressure, it will not stay true and you are wasting your money. The theory in this is the spokes must remain in tension all the time to hold the rim in alignment. When the wheel is bent, some piece of metal is stretched. Metal does not have elasticity per se', so just returning the bent area back to the original location does not mean the metal's molecules automatically return to their former position With the stretched metal, the only way to re-tension the metal is to heat and shrink the metal.

Re: Wheel trueing
Check out Berts model A center in Colorado , Phone 800-321-1931 . Berts can true or straighten model A wheels . They usually have good straight original wheels on hand when needed . I am very pleased with the straight original wheels that I bought from them !!!

Re: Wheel trueing
I had mine done by Pico Wheel in Chatsworth, CA. They have since relocated to Santa Clarita, CA
