Default Vapor barrier on doors?

I am almost ready to install the panels on my S/W sedan's doors. Is it worthwhile to glue a piece of plastic sheeting beneath the panel like they do on more modern cars?

Thanks,
Doug

I'm planning on doing it, the instructions that came with the Lebaron Bonney kit I'm using recommends installing the plastic to protect the cardboard used for the panels from moisture that gets past the weather strip on the windows as well as condensation.

They suggest gluing it across the top and down the sides but leaving the bottom loose.

Don't forget the insulation, it does wonders for the body and keeping you cool/warm.

I agree. As TedG describes. Anything you can do to keep the cardboard from getting wet.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

BTW, I noticed that the inside door sheet metal has these stamped "hooks" (see photos). It looks like there are supposed to be matching holes in the panels, and when the panel is installed, the hooks fit into the holes and then the panel is slid down an inch or so to its proper position. Did the original panels actually work this way? My repro panels (from LB-B) do not have any matching holes.

Thanks again,
Doug
