1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
About to have my upholstery done in the '32 Roadster and here is what I am working with:
- Brookville Steel Body - Factory Seat Back Wood - Factory Seat Springs Can anyone describe or share pictures on how the Seat Wood attaches to the Seat Back Springs AND how it attaches to the car itself? The Seat Bottom Wood & Springs are self-explanatory, but the Seat Back is not. I also have the 3 Wood Pieces that live atop the body, behind the top of the Seat Back. Any secrets there for attaching to the Brookville Body? Thank you all very much!

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
The seat back wood should have come from Brookville already attached to the body. It attaches to the metal trays at the top and to the three metal angle brackets at the bottom which are bolted to the rear seat bottom riser panel. . The Lebaron Bonney instructions for the seat kit goes into detail on how the trim gets attached to the seatback and to the "package tray " metal trays. Getting the trim correct would be hard to explain as it is complicated. If you are not using the L B kit (highly recommended) , try to get the instructions that they supply. pictures may not be enough to get the trim correct.

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
Lebaron Bonney said the only way to obtain instructions is to buy their seat kit. Since I am NOT going stock; I am not buying from them. Yay.

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
You're assuming that LeB/B only offers seat kits for original bodies, but that is not the case. They also offer kits for Brookville roadster bodies and for fiberglass '32 roadster bodies as well. The back and upper quarter panel tack rail differs substantially in both types of reproduction bodies compared to an original body and that difference is incorporated into their various offerings.

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
Rain already deflected! Had a set of Seat Bottom Springs made that are inches lower than stock; just for that reason. I also was just informed that the Brookville Bodies cannot accept the 3 pieces of wood that make up the factory Tack Strip. So now I guess I have 3 new pieces of wood to sell.
Thanks!

Re: 1932 Roadster Seat Back Help
It all depends on which 3-piece set of wood that you have. If it is for an original body, it will not fit a Brookville body, but if it was made to fit a Brookville body then you're in business. If you're not in a hurry, I have a 3-piece set made for a Brookville body and I'd be happy to trade it for the wood set for an original body. Unfortunately I am away from my old car stuff until May.
