Found this in a thread on the HAMB.Anyone here tried it this way?

I tried it that way with a screw jack as shown in the vern Tardel book and it warped the housing out of round. I ended up buying a cheap hydraulic press and borrowed an exhaust fitting/press tool from local shop to press it out. I then was able to use the press and re shape the housing back round.

Back in '67 I changed out a 4.11 to a 3.54 in a '34 banjo.I used an aluminum drift and hammered it out.Worked but don't want to do it again like that.

Heat the housing to 200 degrees and it will come out easily.
