paint springs?
I've disassembled the springs from my 40 sedan. There is some rust pitting but they appear to be sound. I've cleaned and degreased. Should I paint them before reassembly??? Thanks

Re: paint springs?
No, paint after assembly. Did you grind down the wear areas?

No grinding....I used a wire brush on a wheel.

Re: paint springs?
Paint doesn't adhere to grease, and you have to grease the leaves before assembly, so I'd say hand brush the edges before assembly and use fifth wheel grease between the leaves. As Lawson advised, grind the burrs smooth before assembly.

Re: paint springs?
I used the following product. One quart was enough for both spring assemblies with a little left over. I haven't had the car out on the road yet but I really like this graphite-infused paint. Jumping on the frame and compressing the springs reveals NO squeaks. After the paint cures you can rub your finger on it and some of the graphite comes off on your hand.
