Default Shifter ball on '34

see photo of the shifter ball on the end. Is this supposed to be a complete ball or is there a flat side on one quadrant?

susposed to be round, if one side is flat the ball will be smaller and it will slip between two shifter rails and lock the trans in two gears or not let you shift into any other gear, weld the ball up and grind it back round
