1935 1936 Inside Door or Window Handle Tool
Hi Everyone. I need to put in the springs and pins that hold the door and window handles onto the inside of my '35. Some previous owner, or their upholstery shop, removed them and tossed them away. I have the replacement parts ready to go back in.
I have seen somewhere on the FordBarn a tool that made this job a breeze. I can't seem to dig up the thread that included a photo. I remember it had a protruding pin, and a couple of fork-like pieces. The forks were used to depress the escutcheon (and spring under it) and the protruding pin would either push the handle locking pin in or out for assembly or removal of the handles. Anybody remember the tool I'm thinking about? Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much Darrell, I see this is being listed by 3rd Generation Automotive too! Bonus.
The one I remember seeing here on the 'Barn seemed to be white plastic.

This is the tool that I have had since the early '50's.

Thanks 51 Merc-CT, That's the gizmo I was visualizing!
If you've had it since the early '50's, then its a good bit older than me!

Totally agree that a special tool is not needed (have done many without it) but it makes it simpler.

A small drift punch works just fine once the trim ring is pushed back.

Now maybe on an assembly line, having that tool during the assembly procedure, might be an advantage.

Re: 1935 1936 Inside Door or Window Handle Tool
The pins are very loose in my handles, that don't have springs yet.
I actually lost a pin in the grass today as I was fiddling with things, it just dropped to the ground as soon as I moved the escutcheon. Found it after waving a magnet in the grass around for a minute or two. The drivers door handle pin lost itself the same way & I've been using a paper clip in there for a few weeks. It doesn't look like a terrible job, but I'm always looking to work smarter not harder.

Re: 1935 1936 Inside Door or Window Handle Tool
When I looked that up, I see the price is now $39.95. No wonder I don't buy stuff from them any more. What the hell is going on with prices? This is a simple metal tool that probably costs less than a buck to make. If I needed one, I would make my own rather than spending this kind of money. It's insane.
