Question Waterless Coolant??

ALL: At the risk of starting another of those "eye-rolling, here-we-go-again" threads (I DID check the archives for information and found none): does anyone have any experience with the so-called "waterless coolants?" They claim to reduce / eliminate cavitation, localized hot spots, etc. Right now, I run a 50 / 50 mix of distilled water / coolant, but I am intrigued by the waterless claims. I know they are a bit more expensive, but that is not the question. (I also posted this on the "A" side, so the answers may be very interesting, indeed!)

Y'all in the northern climes, take care: looks as though you are about to get hammered, again!

i ran it in my street rod and had the thermostat stick closed and the temperature went to 345 with no boil over or harm to the engine. the only drawback is the expense. also had a rock hit my radiator and the coolant dumped out. the expense to replace the coolant added greatly to the expense of a new radiator.

Bill - All the more reason for you and Lee to move SOUTH! We don't "DO" snow, except for the days when Margretha wants to make some postcards, and even then we only let it stick around until 10 AM or so! (And even THEN - only every few years ....... HUGE GRIN!)

Alv: I don't run a thermostat in any of the "A's" or flatmotors..........simply no real need for them. I do, however, understand the cost aspect. Thanks for the information.

There is a TV show called Wheeler Dealers, from England. They rebuild cars to sell and use waterless coolant all the time and in some high end cars. Sounds like it is guite common in UK AND EUROPE.
