Re: smooth sidewall tires
My recommendation as well. I bought a set of big/little smoothed black wall radials from DB some years back that I really like. Don't recall price being that expensive, and sometimes you do get what you pay for

Re: smooth sidewall tires
You might give Coker a call and discuss your wishes. They've got a lot of stuff.

Re: smooth sidewall tires
As far as I know, DB does not manufacture their tires. They use current brands and vulcanize the whitewalls on them.
Coker manufactures them (or has them manufactered).

Re: smooth sidewall tires
As stated early in this thread by KAHUNA Diamondback has nearly all needs covered, they are offering the smooth (no lettering) black sidewall at $179.00 & $194.00 for the 205/75/15 & 235/75/15 respectfully, those prices reflect a 50.00 discount per tire however $105.00 to get the four to Nebraska....ads up quite quickly. I was particularly interested in the auburn pie crust radial however the 215/75/15 was the smallest available at this time, but the bigger sizes were available in stock.

We bought Wide White Walls from Calli Tire in Sacramento. They have a choice of tires that a customer can choose from. My friend & I chose Cooper tires, essentially because we liked the tread design. Calli Tires does the same thing as Diamond Back- That is, they vulcanize the whitewall to the existing tire, AFTER removing the letters/numbers, etc., from the side they're going to vulcanize. Now, having that done possibly negates the tire MFG's warranty. I, and my friend Willie, had to sign a notification that we are aware of this. Also, by law, those letters/numbers are supposed to be visible to any authority, and that we should make a note of those numbers/letters for our own records. Just a bit of info. Maybe Diamond back is different. I don't anticipate any issues with the tires from Calli. BTW, the tires are beautiful, and I'm a believer in using new radial tires vs bias ply. Just my opinion here. We both shied away from Coker because of all the bad press re balancing/roundness, etc. Re Continental Tires: I became a fan of those tires 20+ years ago as they came as Standard Equipment on BMW M-3's, with a very high speed rating. I put them on my 39 Coupe & again on my 32 Tudor sedan. I can & do cruise the 32 at 80 mph with confidence. Had they been available from Calli Tire, that would have been my choice. Jim |

Re: smooth sidewall tires
I'm led to believe your input regarding the trademark & legal issues which are of utmost concern on both sides of the sales counter, reading the fine print with regards to the DB tires offers further support.

Re: smooth sidewall tires
Cooper Trendsetters have about the smoothest sidewalls I have found. I just installed a set on my 1951 Ch**y.

Re: smooth sidewall tires
Kahuna, RB and others,
If you pull up the Diamond Back web site and scroll down to page 36, you'll learn all about the tire labeling issues. |

Re: smooth sidewall tires
Right on v-8 Bob ! had read & reread it some time ago & partly what prompted my thread .thanks......also the suggestions with regards to the Cooper Trendsetters, I have used them before & were again recommended by some of the suppliers both local & national during my recent search at costs right at 100.00 each after taxes. I have noticed well not of critical concern, the more recent Trendsetters have a few more mold type flashing lines than in years past.

Re: smooth sidewall tires
I hate those tires with all the ribs on the sidewalls. I paid to upgrade to Michelins on my truck to get away from them, Always look dirty if you drive much. Don't ever get a new wash mitt near them, looks like you drove through a cotton field at picking time with Velcro on your tires!
