Default Want to change steering wheel of my 1931

I would like to change the original steering wheel of my 1931 ford mode a for any other original steering wheel but more modern style like 1950s.
But the thing is that I reaaly dont know what steering wheel can fit without making any change. Someone here that knows what wheel can I use if you can let me know the model and year of a car that uses that steering wheel that I can use so I can look for one. Thanks.

I think model A wheels are unique. All later Ford wheels have a different taper shaft.

I agree with John. It would be a major engineering exercise ! Wayne

Can you post a picture of the wheel you want to remove/replace.
If its in decent shape I may be interested in it.
Mine is OK, but really shows it's age.

As stated above, the Model A steering column taper is different (bigger) to the later model Fords.

I have just fitted a Ford Banjo steering wheel to my Model A steering column, and am still using the original horn rod set-up.

I did a small write up on the HAMB on what I did. I modified the Banjo steering wheel hub taper, so I can easily install the original Model A steering wheel if want to.

My 31 had a later 30's banjo steering wheel on it when I bought the car. I removed it and installed the correct wheel.

How late do you want to install, and what about the light switch?

I don't know if the 50's style steering wheels use the '60s and '70s 3-hole mounting methods or not, but this adapter might work for you.

I would be interested to see if that hub adapter works, given that the steering column taper is different between Model A's and later Fords, yet it states that it is good for 1928-1948 Fords.

It does give the dimensions of the taper in the adapter, so I would check that against your column taper and confirm that it is suitable. I am not near home at the moment, so I cannot confirm if these dimensions would be suitable.

Yeah, I don't know the dimensions of the taper on the Model A steering column, either. I was just going by the years that it said it would fit. And the picture showed a slot for the "woodruff key".
