Barner's Bash 2017
Beautiful weather greeted attendees at the 2017 Barner's Bash sponsored by the Cigar City Flatheads as a group of mostly gray-haired kids renewed acquaintances and shared tall tales. The generally cheerful group that gathered at the Holiday Inn Express in Trinity included attendees from Georgia, Maryland, New York, Maine and Florida for the beginning of three days of donuts, coffee and hot air.
The first day's activities included stops at Keith's garage and his father Al's newly constructed Garage Mahal next door. The next venue was Vic's place where we ordered too much pizza and could not figure out how much each of us owed for the feast. The last stop of the day was interrupted due to this correspondent's choice of chariot, which ended up along the road waiting for it's AAA savior to take it back to Vic's place to diagnose the problem. A minor and expected setback, given the age of the iron and the participants. Last edited by mhsprecher; 02-26-2017 at 05:29 AM. |

Re: Barnes's Bash 2017
Hi Everyone. Sad that I couldn't make it. The one time I attended with my dad, we had a great time and met a whole bunch of our online buddies in person.
Keep the photos coming please guys? Beautiful back here in the Mid-Atantic. Had the 35 out three times this week!

Photos include Cord 812 Beverly, Flathead powered Allard, front wheel drive Miller race car, Willys Knight (sleeve valve), rear wheel drive Mercedes, all wheel drive Ferguson Mustang, Gasoline or charcoal-fueled 19 Model A. The last photo is a 1934 Citroen. Note the similarity between the grille on the Citroen and the one on a 33-34 Ford. |

Re: Barner's Bash 2017
The first photo is inside the museum. The second photo is the engine of a Citroen half track, I believe. The subsequent shots are photos of a restoration in progress of a prototype French car, a Gurin, if I caught the proper spelling. A rear-engined car with many innovations. The car was never completed and the museum is restoring the drive train and body structure. I believe they will try to replicate the body, which was never completed. One of the owners of the museum gave us a tour of their shop where work is taking place on this car. The museum staff is very knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful tour.

Re: Barner's Bash 2017
The Tampa Bay Auto Museum had a great display of some of the most interesting cars I have ever seen all under one roof. I must have taken 100 pictures there.
The last pictures shown in the above post was a prototype rear engine car that was being built in the 1920's by an aircraft designer, but never finished. The folks at the museum are hoping to have this car completed enough the take to the Amelia Island Show this year, but I'm thinking that might be a stretch, so maybe it will actually make it there next year.

I have more photos on my "real" camera I will post later. JM will probably post some, too. Picnic today and then a flight home for me.

Re: Barner's Bash 2017
The first day we went to Keith and Al's places next door to each other. These are shots from Al's Garage Mahal and then back at Vic's for lunch. Vic needs to get that Cosmo back on the road.

BBQ at Philippe Park on Sunday. Photos include Pat's 1950 coupe, Jerry Shook's truck with a Mustang V6, Steve's 55 pickup, and various shots of the group getting ready to picnic. A nice day, but a little cool early on with the breeze off of the lake. The grill provided some needed warmth to those who needed it.

Re: Barner's Bash 2017
Once again, I want to thank everyone that attended the event, we appreciate your continued support. It is however, getting harder and harder to come up with places to go and people to see. This year, Mike hit a home run with the Tampa Bay Antique Automobile Museum as our Saturday cruise destination. Thanks also to Al & Keith for their hospitality, coffee, donuts, and tour of their garages on Friday, and again to Keith for assuming the roll of Grill Sergeant at the BBQ on Sunday. Mac's Auto Parts donated two $25.00 Gift Certificates that I gave away at the BBQ. I opted to ask Ford Trivia questions... All I can say is; you guys better bone up on your useless Ford knowledge for next year... LOL I was busy all weekend between performing my mostly astatic function with the event, along with some Flathead (gas related) issues and the fact that my daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids were in town for the weekend. So thanks to all who took, and posted, photos of the festivities. As always, I had a blast. Hope everyone else did as well. Now, to start thinkin' about next years Cigar City Flatheads Florida "Barner's Bash"...
