Starter Foot pain
Been working on the A for About 3 days now, Moving it back in forth from the RV pad to the garage. Putting in a Van middle seat That requires a lot of modifying
mainly the frame. Heres the problem, I ware tennis shoes that give your foot no support when trying to start The foot starter rod has a nickel size rod head to push down on. Now I'm paying the price with the pain. I welded a 2" washer on the end which should help. Can the starter system be coverted to a push button system like some of the older cars & what would it take ? Lefthander1930 |

Re: Starter Foot pain
It can install a solenoid and button or you could install a device such as the Up-Start. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...earchByKeyword
There are other solutions also available.

Re: Starter Foot pain
The spring in your starter switch must be awfully strong!

Lefthander30,
Wouldn't it be simpler to wear work shoes, which have more support, instead of tennis shoes? David Serrano |

Oh come on David. He's from California. I bet he doesn't wear socks either.

Re: Starter Foot pain
The two inch washer will solve your problem. You won't even feel the pressure.

I was originally going to wire up a solenoid that would not have cost me much, but I was left with how to modify the original switch and the post on the top of the starter. That would not have been terribly hard, but a pain any way. The already made version made it a heck of a lot easier. |

Re: Starter Foot pain
I had the same problem, even though I was wearing boots. I now have a key start in my pickup.

Re: Starter Foot pain
I get the same pain from the accelerator and the footrest if I wear soft soled shoes and I'm on a long drive.

Re: Starter Foot pain
I fixed that situation by removing the "button" accelerator and replacing it with a pedal I bought on eBay for a mid '60s Mustang and modified it to fit on the shaft in it's place. It actually looks and feels like it belongs there, as well as solving the problem.

Re: Starter Foot pain
Well I got my sparky start today, looked at it for awhile & read direction a few times & started to install. Really very easy once i study the picture provided. It works real well & worth the money.

Re: Starter Foot pain
Had the same problem, our car has firewall insulation inside of the cab. Removed the starter shaft/peddle & cut the 5/8" shaft, added 1"rod. Works better than ever.
