1940 Ford Headlight Switch
So I replaced my headlight switch on my 40' coupe and I installed the knob now it is upside down. Instead of an L for lights now I have a 7 which way do I have to turn the knob so it is correct?

.
That's sorta like one of those "710" caps that covers the hole where you pour-in the 10W30. DD |

The knob on the switch will only work in one position. You need to turn the switch 180 degrees on the back side of the dash. Then it will be an L. Good luck

Re: 1940 Ford Headlight Switch
I have one of those "710" filler caps on the hemi in my racecar. I tell people that it's the horsepower rating of the engine.
You'd be surprised at how many people believe it. |

I contacted the vendor of the repro dash knob kit, Joe's Antique Auto Parts. Joe said it wasn't first time he heard of this problem. Manufacturing error....knob placed on shaft upside-down. After a little time he located and sent a replacement knob, this one with the L in the correct orientation. |
