Re: MAFCA June Meet
I'm going, will be at the repair facility. Our club, Henry's A's from Livermore, CA is manning the repair from the day of arrival until Sunday when all leave. We don't do the work but provide you with some of the tools you may need. The labor comes from the members of your club or whomsoever elects to assist you. Our rules keep us from becoming involved in the actual work. (NCRG and MAFCA) We will offer advice. There will be a vendor on site with a fair representation of the likely needed repair parts, but that will be a limited supply with (hopefully) overnight available from the major vendors. That is the plan that I have presented to the body so far. I will bring an engine hoist and there may be someone with an engine available, though there has been no contact from such a person with me to date. I would welcome someone to step up and bring some. We had eight at the "Reno Date in 98" event and all were purchased and installed. I had to send a relative home on a trailer, as I had no more engines to offer.
I found that most repairs in 1998 involved modification done to the Model A's. |

Re: MAFCA June Meet
Well lets just do a meeting of Barners. Come to the East parking lot and look me up at the repair facility. We can have it there and pass on all this great knowledge to the masses.

Re: MAFCA June Meet
As an idea how about we get together with our wives one evening for a meal & drinks at the venue , introduce your self, Tells us your vehicle etc, , We did this at one of the regional meets couple of years ago , worked well, Course some of us are now a little older, Think I can come up with say stick on name tag , Closer to the time sure we can put something together if enough interested, What do you all think. ??

Re: MAFCA June Meet
Back in 1998 we had about 500 cars as I recall. Seven or so 29 De Luxe Delivery's and four or five of the real expensive ones that had the driver out in the air with a canvas over him and the passengers in the luxury box behind. Town Sedan? Or some such, real luxury cars. One was unmolested. There is a projection that indicates probably a few more this coming June. You don't have to be a member to see the ones outside, but the judged cars may be somewhat hard to see if not a member. If you are not presently a member, mafca is offering a free membership to introduce you to the club, most local clubs have had the paperwork to get you signed up. Might check the mafca.com site?

Re: MAFCA June Meet
Do you know anything about the Nugget? I assume it's part of the Nugget Hotel and Casino In Las Vegas. The Nugget was Steve Wynn's first Casino in Downtown Las Vegas which he modernized and sold before he built his own Casino.

Re: MAFCA June Meet
I do not believe the Sparks and Vegas casinos are connected.
The convention will be in Sparks.... not Reno. But they are like sister cities. We stayed at the Nugget several times in recent months. Rooms recently freshened up. The convention got a great price for these rooms. Seriously doubt anyone will be disappointed. Gil. NoCal |
