Default 39 brake pedal bushings

OK, this bushing (1939 only, 91A 7526; 1.92"L x 1.193" ID x 1.254" OD)is made of unobtainium at this point. I have spent a buttload of time trying to find replacement bushings and I now know why they are no longer made.

So has anyone ever looked at using Delrin as a bushing here? Have to hog out a tad over the 1.254" inch of the pedal, but Delrin is available as a .062" sheet thinnest I have found). A guy might wrap it with a spiral joint line and make that work. Dick spadaro's suggestion of a brass sink tube was a good idea, but he must have had the last of the stuff, because I haven't found something with 16 gauge walls. Plus, brass is harder than the bronze bushing as original.

Delrin is pretty tough stuff, and it is readily available at $14.95 for a 12"x12" piece of sheet. You'd get at least a couple of bushings out of that.
It is used as bushings in a lot of tougher duty applications than a brake pedal.

Anyone done this yet?

Try doing a search. This was discussed a while ago and I think someone came up with either a substitute or a method.

You must have missed the part where I said I had spent a buttload of time. Want a list of all who don't stock it, but show it on their web site "for reference only" and the part where Dick Spadaro had made a reference to plumbing parts as a replacement.

I tried the plumbing supply and same result you had. Is .062 delrin flexible enough to wrap without cracking? I used the worn bushing it came with and settled for a little slop, not much help.
