Re: 41 Ford speedometer cable
The biggest die I have is 5/8x18 and the back of the speedo looks larger and finer than that, if I can figure out another way to measure, I'll get back to you.
This is from a spare '41 dash I have out. |

Re: 41 Ford speedometer cable
The reason I ask, is I have a '41dash that I am modifying to fit a '29 roadster, and am using a t-5 5sp. trans with the electric speedometer sensor. I am considering using a product called Cable x that converts the electronic signal to a cable drive, but I need to know the type and size of the end of the cable where it screw into the back of the speedometer. the '41 passenger car speedometer I have looks like it may be 3/4 ,but I have no idea what the thread pitch is, and was hoping some one here would know. corvette8n, Thank you for your input. any other help, comments, or suggestions would be appreciated. by the way, the roadster was a pile of rust, passed over by all the restorers and headed to the scrap yard when I found it, and the '41 dash and gauges were the same. I figured building a hot rod out of the stuff is better than seeing the stuff ending up being a new Subaru. Thanks for any help.---- Jim

Re: 41 Ford speedometer cable
It appears from the Lokar site that Ford, '48 and earlier, has 3/4-20 male thread (Lokar #SP-1506U)
