Sometimes the parents and kids think your car is a carnival ride that they can jump in. I have even seen lunch being eaten by strangers in a displayed Model A.

"Car People" car shows are great. Displaying them at locations where people might not even own cars is more challenging.

I just instruct them how to get in and out. Seeing smiles like these makes it all worthwhile.

that is why i go to shows and dont ever take my cars. Besides, it sometimes becomes a prison sentence when the show doesnt allow you to leave before a said time.

AMEN. That why i lean towards the AACA national events. and can the local shows.. To many complete A -holes for my investment

I take my car to shows occasionally. I pop the hood sides up, and roll the windows down and keep an eye on it. If someone has a young kid not dripping with refreshments or snots I'll let them sit inside. Its fun, but there always seems to be someone there that knows more about MY car than me! I nod my head as they tell me about my car. 'course they don't have an antique or classic car, or its being rebuilt. But I like to look at others efforts and I like old cars, so I go.

We took our Speedster to Colo Nat Speedway for a car show, and a little girl wanted to sit in the car befoe we got it off the trailer. Later a young man, perhaps with Down' Syndrome, sat in the car for a long....long time. After he got out, his Mom was so appreciative, and said we had made her day.

I thought later that the little things somethings mean so much to other people. Small price to make someone's day. We continue to allow others to enjoy our cars.

Our Tudor gets to about twenty shows a year, both large and small, although it is very far from being a show car.

Clean kids and seniors are welcome to sit in for photo ops. The smiles are payment enough.

I invite people to sit in mine all the time and give kids rides in the parking lots at the grocery store. As the caretaker of a piece of rolling history it's my responsibility to share it with as many as I can. You never know who might become a future A addict!

Me, I'd prefer to have a guard posted strategically on the car as was done in this photo. That way I can break free to go get a hotdog and soda while leaving the car guarded. What a wonderful accessory item, huh? :-)

My youngest loved the feel of that big old steering wheel and she also enjoyed being the special one to invite others inside the car at a car show or such to feel that big ol' wheel or to honk that old ahooga horn. Her smiles from that are still logged in my memory bank after all these years and were appreciated even more by me than any of the wonderful multitudes of strangers who accepted her welcoming offers to sit and enjoy my Model A.

I attended a parade back in the late 70's in Wichita Falls, Tx, with my first fordoor sedan. It was being restored and the seats only had old army blankets laying on top of the springs at that time. Well, as I sat in my place in line at the start of the parade, I had about four older folk from the AARC who asked if they could ride in the car during that parade. I was embarrassed to say yes as those seats were so horrible looking, but one lady got right in back and then said to me, "Son, this is the way we remember them." She smiled and then told me stories of her first Model A and driving on the non-roads of the times. We had a grand parade time that day and those old ladies and gents were appreciative of me having given them back some memories of their youth when they actually owned and drove a Model A as the norm.

Stay home! If you've been to one show, you have seen them all. The most fun of owning antique and vintage cars is driving them, and going to free cruise-in nights.

I attend every local show I can to try to be a good ambassador for our hobby. The most fun of owning an antique or vintage automobile is the people in the hobby and sharing our cars with the public. I also drive my cars as much as possible.

I enjoy driving much more than just showing though I do enjoy people and answering comments and questions. However I don't go looking for attention and I don't let anyone touch or sit in my cars including family and friends. Cruise nights are great and there are enough car owners around that the guys parked near me keep lookers from crossing the invisible line. Some kind of spoken or unspoken arrangement like this should help when our cars are on display.
