Default help, closed driveshaft lube screw-up

The engine/transmission are installed and realized I did not lube the transmission ujoint. I have no idea how to lube the joint with the cover on cover setup. Looking on the site I was reading to pack it with Corn Head Grease. There is a zerk fitting on the joint cover so I pumped in a bunch of Corn Head Grease and I think way too much. I bet most or all of it is in the ujoint chamber itself. I bet I pumped in a 1/2 a tube or more.

don't worry about it, it takes almost a full tube to really pack it. even iff you put too much it just ends up in the trans or down the torque tube

If the U-joint chamber has enough in it to reach the U-joint outer bushings, it should lube the bushings OK. Those old Ford joints had no needle bearings to worry about unless you put a Lincoln type U-joint in there. They are tough old joints for sure.

I don't think you have pumped in too much JDCHG. When I am putting an engine/trans or rear back in place I usually pack/butter ~ 1/2 tube of JDCHG on and around the U joint before assembly. Then pump more into the zerk fitting on the clam shell halves, and finally pump some into the opening in torque tube where the speedo turtle fits before I bolt it into place to make sure those gears have some lube to begin with. Then I followup with a few pumps into the zerk on every other oil change. This usually does a good job of keeping everything lubed in that area.
