Wheel wobble

I use my car as a daily, 150 miles or more a week. 3000 miles since January. Numerous times I have been waived at and told I have a wobble in my rear wheel. Jacked it up and ran it. and yes there is a slight wobble in one wheel. Put a dial indicator against the wheel and found a couple of spots where it appears to indicate the wheel being out of true. Can't feel it in the car, and no visible wear difference in the tire. Is this normal for the A wheels to get out of true a little, or should I try and get it trued? And if so is there a tool that is used to true the wheels?

It is very common for Model A wheels to get out of round, especially 21"... it is advised that you have it straightened or find one that is true.

Yeah I had the same issue...bought a used wheel from a club member that was true and the wobble is gone now. Easy fix if you can find a nice wheel.

I do have my spare which has never been on the ground. Going to change it tomorrow and make sure it has no wobble. The drum is tight, all bearing are fresh. But is it possible to true one of these wheels?

checked out the above sight. Looks pretty intense. Hoping the spare is better. And hoping that because the wobble is so slight, can't be felt at all in the car at any speed, that there will be no ill effects to the bearings or anything else.

might talk to motor cycle shops - give em a call - if they dont they may know who does straighten spoked wheels.

1/8" or less out of round or side wobble, don't worry about it. Spokes can also be shrunk by heating them and applying a wet cloth to them. I haven't tried that yet, but have of good results from those that have done it.

Thanks for all the input. It is nowhere near an 1/8. But I plan on checking the spare tomorrow. Other than that it has been pretty much trouble free. Just trying to keep it as nice as possible since it is the only car I have, and I do rack up a lot of miles.

I'm working on a stand to be able to accurately measure just how far out the wheels are. I should be able to measure both run out and out of round with it when I'm done. Bent or damaged spokes will affect the wheels trueness also.

Here is a "cheap" tool to check wheels. Just a couple pieces of wood and screws.

Can check roundness or wobble.

it could check wheels if the thing is placed parallel with the axle.

Just turn it to check the rim of the wheel like the above post says and if you want to check the wheel for roundness, take the tire off.
