Help: banjo rear end questions
Seems I have a banjo rear end with mixed parts. The housing seems to be 37 or later as is has the big bearing races in the bells, and the pinion nose bearing is the later style. He is where I need help, the carrier seems to be the 32 to 36 style with the smaller bearings.
1. Can I use the later style large bearing? 2. Do I need a new later style carrier? 3. If 2 is yes, does anyone have one to sell and how much? Any help will be great, thanks |

Re: Help: banjo rear end questions
I put together a rear end with a 1946 Merc carrier and center, 1936 bells. I used the small bearings on the carrier that worked with the bells, and it worked, did the adjustment with one set of gaskets. So, I think that it would work the other way. BUT, I hope the pinion gear and the ring gear match up... Cause I don't know if you can put an early- 32-6 pinion gear in the later pinion bearing, never tried it.

BTW the larger bearings "68" are used with the 1937up housings so the Ford number codes can be confusing. Last edited by Barn Junk; 03-21-2013 at 12:17 AM. |
