A Very Sad DAy
Well.. fellas, Today i sold my 40 to a man in Casper, Wy.He has a bunch of 40's. At least it is going to a good home. I work alot ,plus trying to restore an F-1, I just didnt have the time to work on it. I know alot of you have multiple cars, but I just dont have the room for storing I used to have a lot trucks, but my job is a calling... But i won't get rid of the 48. You sure can get attached to these Fords. Ken

I would say down the road you will regret selling your truck. Always down the road one can find time. Hang in there things will get better.I am keeping my truck.

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Ken, I was lookin real hard @ a 48 before my 39 found me. I'm glad I got my 39 and passed on the 48, although If I do get another truck it may have to include a divorce lawyer
It's all good as long as there's a Flathead under the hood!! |

Re: A Very Sad DAy
I've been sad about the loss of my '38 Pickup for the last several months. She took it in the divorce. I left with my '04 F150 and my tools.

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Sorry for your loss. Sometimes a man has to do what's best, rather than what he'd like. I respect those able to do that.
That said. A few years back I thought it would be best to sell my Harley. My family after trying subtly to talk me out of it, eventually resorted to a show of force to express their desire to see me keep it. It was amazing. I had no idea how they felt. Now, I'll have to ride it till I die.

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Ken,
The title of your thread tells it all and I am sorry you sold your truck. Only you know what you had to do. The `48 is also a beautiful and desirable truck and they are coming on strong. Parts are readily available at the vendors we all know. Forgive me guys for writing about Chevy's on the Fordbarn, but I want to share this. Maybe it will help someone else in making tough decisions like Ken's. I have only had one car that I have really regretted selling. Oh, there were others that I would like to have back, but the car I enjoyed most was my `32 Chevy coupe with a 283 V-8. Yeah, I know guys, it was a Chevy street rod and I am gung-ho on keeping my Fords original. I had spent four years in the air force and three years of that in Germany. I was single and not a care in the world but surviving. I enjoyed that old coupe more than any car I ever hope to own again. Just about everyone in two small towns, one where I lived and one where I worked, knew me because of that old coupe. Even today my old buddies want to talk about the `coupe' when I run on to them. I had dreams I didn't sell it only to wake up disgusted with myself. So Ken, I don’t mean to depress you with all of this and hope the bad dreams never occur. I am sure I am not the only one this has happened to. I bought this `37 Chevy coupe in 1999, finished it in 2005 and it sits most of the time. It is not the `32, but a real nice replacement. The bad dreams have stopped. It will never be for sale as long as I live, unless it is that or starvation. I have learned my lesson. I don’t think my son will sell it either as I have a grandson... Shadetree

SHADETREE ..........................
Where were those B&W photos taken ? It looks like it could be right up from my house in Spencer, WV. If it is, I now own the property seen there on the left. I own up to the Barr Cut bridge. When the Rail-Road went out, the property was deeded back to the original owners, from whom I bought it. MIKE |

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Not to get too off topic. I have only seen my father cry twice in his life. When my mother past away and when he sold his 1973 detomaso pantera whereby he was the original owner. I/we feel your pain.

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Ken
There is a reason, there is a plan. we may not know it now but there is. Think about the happiness that will come to the fellow & his family & friends that you sold the truck to and how it will change there life's. A short non auto true story. Personal friend was getting very sick ( Kidney failure ) VERY SAD Got Divorced VERY SAD Got sicker Almost lost him VERY VERY SAD A small rebound HAPPY TIMES Found a very nice Divorced girl HAPPY TIMES BOY & GIRL get married HAPPY TIMES things looking up. THEN a big turn for the WORST VERY VERY SICK. On a whim the new wife decides to get her name on the Donner list because she could see what her husband was going through and wanted to help others. YOU GOT IT "EXACT MATCH WITH HUSBAND" VERY VERY VERY HAPPY TIMES. Operation a success both doing very well.he even went back to work at old job past MONDAY. ex wife is now going to get married with new wifes ex husband ( this part is weird ) But every one is best of friends and very HAPPY know. THINK about the stars that had to line up to make this happen. THERE IS A PLAN your stars are just realigning them self. keep us posted on how it turns out. |

Re: A Very Sad DAy
Proof that everything happens for a reason. Cool story Bill.
Wish I still had my first car, my 75 Duster 440. At least I have my Model A to keep me occupied, pretty excited with it
