Default Adjusting gas gauge 29 RPU

I just drained my gas tank and filled a couple of gas cans after the gauge read MT.(empty). I need some advise on adjusting the gauge. I drained the tank to clean out the stand pipe filter in the shut off valve.

Thanks

Do not get me started on the stupidity of ethanol. I think one of the monitors is from Iowa and he will delete the thread.

Reach in with a coat hanger that has a hook on the end to grab the gas gauge float wire. Pull the float wire to the top of the tank and see what the reading is. That should be F or full. Bend the float wire accordingly. This will allow the gauge to read empty when the tank is nearly out yet still have approximately ½ a gallon or more left in reserve. Re-install the spark arrestor and make sure the float wire is not rubbing.
