When did Ford go to Negative ground?

FWIW, I had a '56 that was 6 volt, special order .Connecticut state plain jane 2 door Mainline, this allowed them to use a "hand-me-down" 6 volt 2-way radio. Never did know who used the car.

Does anyone know why they made the change from positive ground to negative ground on their vehicles?

I think one of the monitors is from Iowa and he will delete the thread.
