Sweet sounding ride. I noticed the horses taking notice of the A. In our cruises I have found that most horses and mules will perk up when an A pass by. Anybody else notice this behavior? Thanks for sharing

Great fun! How neat it is that father and son can enjoy the hobby together. Gar Williams

You could buy a passenger side mirror for your Dad.

Ahhhhhh the chug a chug. I love it. Gives me the often needed inspiration to keep going on the restoration of my RPU. Some day . . . . .

Ray:
Glad you made that comment about your engine not sounding like a Model A. Mine doesn't either. Don't know why. There isn't any ring to the engine sound, like a regular Model A. Just a steady beat of the engine. It runs good and is perky, but doesn't sound like a Model A. I have a standard muffler. I also would like some input on this. |

Re: Video of riding in my dad's '31 Model A
Thanks for the comments, everyone!
The color?...Ha...I am not sure how to identify that shade... I know it came from the paint shop a little "brighter" than Dad intended....We jokingly call it "Smurf blue"...But I kinda like it.... And yeah -- I SHOULD get him a new mirror....I was actually the one driving it one day when the mirror "flew off"...It was on the drivers side at that point, and out of my peripheral vision I saw the mirror suddenly sort of "fall" from its proper position...I instinctively reached out and had it in my hand a moment but did not realize it had actually loosened to the point of coming detached...Next thing I knew, it had flown off the car, and unfortunately it broke when it hit the road...SO -- for now, Dad just attached the other mirror onto the driver side... |

Re: Video of riding in my dad's '31 Model A
thats real pretty country there. Where is it?
Regarding the horses, the horses in my neighborhood always look and whinny or at least do that raised lip thing they do, when I go by in the A. They ignore the moderns. |

Re: Video of riding in my dad's '31 Model A
That area in the video is in Hancock County, Indiana -- just east of Indianapolis and near Greenfield. When I was growing up here, it was mostly agricultural, and it still contains a good deal of farmland, but a LOT of subdivisions have sprouted in the last couple decades, too! My wife and three daughters and I live about a mile from my parents' home -- where the Model A resides!
