There should be a nut on the backside that you undo and slide it completely off .Lubing it might help.

First slide the choke tube and spring out of the way,
then remove the small lock ring at the end of the cable, then slide the tube and spring off, then do as deuce lover suggests...

slide the tube up the cable and you will see the ring, it's about 1.5 inches from the tip you see in your picture.
The circular notch going around the collar contacts the ring when you pull on the cable.

When in doubt, add some penetrating fluid and wait. Dumping the whole thing in a bucket of oil even for a week or two.
Sorry I have nothing to add. Best of luck! / |

Re: 32 PU choke cable remowal Model B ?
The tube should slide up and down easily.
It's hollow so it may have some crud holding it back. You can try penetrating oil but I would spray it out with brakeclean and then once the brake clean evaporates soak it in Evapo Rust for a day or two. Evapo Rust doesn't like oil so that's why it has to be oil free before you soak it. That's why I suggest you clean it with the brakeclean first. Call me if you have further questions 845 551 5132 Phil

Re: 32 PU choke cable remowal Model B ?
As a service to the next B choke cable installer...Here's what I found,I had to pull like heck to get tube to slide up the cable ,I put visegrips on semi roumd section that goes in carb..,had to pull as hard as I could away from pliers and it finally came loose..there was no rust just a tight fit...tube nut and spring must slide up the cable towards dash...see poor picture of lock ring in center that has to come off as well and it is not not easy either..Once lock ring is off then the whole unit will go thru the dash tunnel hole..Tnx much... see picture....spencer

Re: 32 PU choke cable remowal Model B ?
The lock ring on your cable in your last photo looks way too big compared to an original lock ring, which would explain why you had a struggle to slide the tubing up and off the end section. You will need to replace the lock ring with one made of much smaller diameter steel wire or the choke will never operate as intended.
