Default Driving To Memorial (I hope)

The family I bought my 1929 Model A had owned it since 1937. The two parents have recently died within weeks of each other and the family has requested I drive about 40 miles to a memorial service tomorrow with "Myrt" as they had named it.

I'm sure all will go well. This will be my longest trip since getting the car. I'll let you know.

Good luck. I am certain you will bring many pleasant memories back to the family members. Jeff

That's very nice of you. If it's been running good for you, isn't any reason it shouldn't make an 80 mile trip. Do you belong to a Model A club? Let some of them know what you're up to and maybe you could get a few phone numbers of fellow Aers close to where you are going? Just in case you need a hand?

Not to worry, the original owners will be riding with you.

We went to the service and the car ran flawlessly both ways. The fact the lady had the car her entire life meant that it was clearly a part of the family history. I was overwhelmed at the response to the car being there. Her three sons, the youngest of which is 57, all drove it and had there families all in it. Four generations at one point all around or in the car. It was truly an experience that of which the saying is true that when you give you actually get more than the receiver. It was a day my wife and I felt truly blessed to be a part of.

So glad to hear your day went well. I've also had simular experiences with family members of previous owners. The best has been surprising the grandsons of a previous owner, by driving them in grandpa's old car on their wedding days. Jeff

I drove my Dad's Model T to his funeral. Followed the hearse. We all thought it was most fitting..
