Re: Who Knew??
No you may not.
Packard car production was inspired for a reason.

Re: Who Knew??
Seems to me Henry's ideas on quality and how to run a business were great. So much government control now starting a while back actually that we're at an eye opening point in this country. Scary really

Re: Who Knew??
I just bought a Purolator filter for my 2100 autolite and it was stamped Made in China, even the printing on the filter was smeared, but the float was from Walker fuel parts and was marked manufactured in USA and is identical to the original.

Re: Who Knew??
The automotive aftermarket companies are all competing for their market share.
They will do what they do best-seek out the parts manufacturers who will provide them with the lowest acquisition cost, so they can provide the lowest price to the end user, therefore realizing the highest percentage of profit. They accomplish this by seeking out manufacturers worldwide, who can and will provide the parts at the least expensive acquisition cost (unfortunately it isn't the US manufacturers) so quality control unfortunately suffers. The US companies have become nothing more than a re-packaging company in many cases, capitalizing on their past history/namesake. Investors/shareholders want/demand a return on their investment. Profits equal survival-no sales, no profits, no business.

Scanners, xray, optical measuring and devises like these are now doing the inspections. These stations drop or push the bad parts off the line as they pass. Sure one gets by once in a while but not to often. What surprises me is the parts dealers will continue to sell junk parts made by companies that continue to ship bad parts. G.M.
