Re: Dawsonville
Supposed to be moving everything behind the Food Lion. I’ve been going for 20 years or more and always a good show but no more parking around the old courthouse and now moving it all away from town. It’s definitely on a fast track to the bottom. Word I got was they want all the old cars off the streets to make more room for arts , crafts and cotton candy vendors. I guess we’ll see. I’ll keep goin till it ain’t fun anymore.

Re: Dawsonville
I also heard the swap meet is history-besides looking at all the great cars, I along with many others really enjoyed combing through all the rusty treasures. That killed my fun meter and won't be coming back. You would think with the revenue that little town has drawn over the years for this one special weekend they would leave things alone and stop making silly changes. Sorry, I don't get it.

That's not good. And here I was planning to go this year after missing several. Looks like the core reason for having the event, 40 Fords and 'shine, has been slowly replaced by the arts and crafts, wine sipping, yuppie snob, group thinkers. "Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?" Sad day. The end of an institution. |

Re: Dawsonville
Just received email from the Kare for kids folks that heads up the moonshine festival. The plan is , if the new park behind the Food Lion gets completed in time for the festival, the moonshine cars will move from town to the new park . If not, it will remain as last year , parking in the street but not at the old courthouse. The swap meet will return this year. The grand marshal for the parade will be Sterling Marlin.

Re: Dawsonville
Yes, I’m planning on going. Lot of good friends that come that I only get to see once a year. That’s as much or more fun than the show for me.

Re: Dawsonville
I have the contact info for the lady in charge now if anyone wants it I’ll PM it to you. I spoke with my friends that own the business on the square today and they were told it will be organized much like last year. The event maps are up on the website now. The only thing that still seems to be up in the air is the “moonshine car” parking. Which may be what she calls the ‘39 and ‘40s. This will be the first year I may be able to bring my ‘40 so I’m hoping it works out.
