Headlight Cover (protective)
Anyone made a protective cover to slip over the ‘28 style headlights to guard them while vehicle is in storage? Photos would be helpful. Im envisioning a bag/Velcro fastener made of quilted (padded) material with possibly heavy cardboard over the glass lens. I have the scarce fluted lenses w/logo at top so am paranoid of them being accidentally ‘bumped’ while in garage.
Thanks! |

Use a couple of old bath towels. Rope or zip tie them in place.

I put a cardboard box over mine.
Not perfect but seems to work. |

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
Take caution with covers over the headlights. I use thick black simulated leather headlight covers when towing my speedster. I left them on at a car show and someone turned on the headlights and "bingo" both bulbs burned out immediately.
The headlights were 12 volt modern lamps. Bill Lee/Virginia Peninsula |

Yea I call baloney haha, I could see after an hour where the heat may build up but it wont happen immediately if at all... If you leave your modern headlights on that are enclosed the battery dies way quicker than a headlight burning out....

Lots of us in Oz, use headlight covers to protect against breakage while driving. The windscreen on one of my cars has a few chips in it and a dent in the radiator surround. Near misses! I have no idea how often a stone has hit the headlight cover - they would leave no trace. I also run a radiator protector too because of those stones

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
sounds like you auusies need to retrofit some of these :
http://thumbs2.picclick.com/d/l400/p...r-May-Suit.jpg or somethign like this https://motorbikewriter.com/protect-...cle-headlight/ i know ive seen those bags that slip over the headlights before - check motorcycle websites too. Ive seen them in both drawstring style and elastic style. Would not be that hard at all to make or have made.

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
Wardlow Kustom Masks makes superb headlight covers for the Model As. They are padded vinyl, have elastic and drawstring to keep them on, and they look great. Available in black, red, yellow, bright white, and creamy white. Mine stay on, even when driving the Model A at highway speeds.
http://www.wardlowbras.com/ "Model A Headlight Covers 9 1/2" diameter 28'-31' Ford Also fits: 31'-34' Chevy, 36' Chevy & 26'-27'T Ford, 33' Dodge $40.00" (for the pair) I attached a picture of what they look like from inside the Model A. I don't have any pictures of them on the car from the outside. |

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
Mitch, We make 'em. Any auto trimmer can make them - they're simple. Just a round piece of say, ply the diameter of the light, a little sewing and you have it. I usually put a piece of elastic at the back and something soft on the inside to avoid scratches. Some use a draw string but they don't come off easily anyway. The pressure of the wind holds them on.
Do I conclude correctly from your posts that your business is car restoration? If so, I'm sure you have a trimmer (upholsterer) who you use regularly. I suggest you see what he can do. If push comes to shove, I'll get a set made here and send them to you.

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
Thanks for the link Paul and also for the offer Synchro. We do deal with a couple upholstery shops so i will check with them as well, and also call the place Paul linked to to see how padded those are..Synchro we operate a modern repair facility and just play with old cars to have fun.. i also thought it would be good for protection when transporting or being stored.
Thanks for the idea Charles |

Re: Headlight Cover (protective)
Try this stuff out. I´ve used it on my motorcycles for years and plan to do the same on my ´30 roadster.
