Yes, it's made for that specific purpose. Looks like you found an original tool, congratulations.

Your very lucky to find an original!
I've been looking for one for years with no luck. Everyone I talk with either knows exactly what I'm describing or have one that's not for sale.

The stock cranckshaft "ratchet" nut is 1-3/8", but that doesn't mean that's what you have, it could have been replaced w/a different size, maybe 1-5/16" or 1-1/4", or?

Nice old original wrench but I think a 12 point would much more "usable" when turning over a engine. Space is tight.

I caution you to paint / tape the handle of your wrench a bright Dayglo color to remind you to remove it from the engine before starting the engine. Unfortunately, more than one Model A'er has forgotten to remove the wrench with some interesting results.
Another tip is for those who have a tool box between the frame horns. The box blocks the hand-crank hole, so the 1-3/8 offset wrench is a must have for turning the engine to time the ignition.

Be sure to read & heed what Bob B. said in post #9.

Fortunately, the only thing that happened to me was I found the fastest way to loosen the crank pulley bolt with the engine still in the car!

I bought a 1/2 inch drive 1 3/8 inch socket. Used an extension and rachet to get to it from the crank hole in the grill. Much easier than a wrench. Because it sticks out between the grill and bumper it is hard to forget to remove it. Although I probably could.
