Manifold heater
This is my first winter with my car, it has a manifold heater. Is their supposed to be a hose or flex. Pipe between the heater and cab fixture? Lets drive these rascals!

Re: Manifold heater
Roll up a 2" piece of aluminum step flashing for roofing. Put it in from inside the cab and let it unwind. Works great, I use it all winter as long as the roads are dry.

Re: Manifold heater
WARNING! keep feet away from the heater opening when operating. Otherwise you will get singed.

------------------ Yes, there is. Yours is missing. They are commonly available from most vendors. But the above "backyard mechanic", 'Jury-rigged", 'Rube Goldberg', suggestions above work quite well. It just depends on how 'fussy' you are. |

The piece of aluminum works great. Mine is just a piece from a coke can.

Re: Manifold heater
Hi Michael
Metal flexible tail pipe tubing is what most people use. Go Kart racers use it to tune there 2 stroke exhaust pipes and some speed shops carry it. I think some industrial supply places carry it as well. The size you need depends on what size your heater valve is, and the outlet of your manifold. I am using the replacement heater valve on the firewall that is sold by most part suppliers. I have extra tubing from when I did my heater. If you need help P.M. me Steve |

Re: Manifold heater
Mine goes from the Manifold Heater to the Rubber Fernco, then to the Manifold heater Valve.

Re: Manifold heater
I use a piece of black heater duct hose that I had hanging around. Fits great, looks good.

Re: Manifold heater
I once saw a piece of original literature that came with the AutoLite heater that said once installed there would be a small gap between the heater outlet on the cover and the firewall inlet and to not connect the two pieces together with anything. This was designed to allow fresh air to blend with the heated air. This is the way I use mine for years and the heater will burn you out if you let it and by the way, just because I live in Florida is not a true test, I was in Ashville, N.C. for a week driving around in snow and ice and the heater worked great!
