Default 39' hubcap on a '46 wheel?

My '39 came into my life with 46-48 hubs and 15" wheels (5 on 5.5 bolt pattern). I would really like to use the set of original '39 hubcaps that I purchased a few years ago for this car without changing the hubs and wheels back to the original size. I suppose I could use "Gorilla Glue" but, is anyone selling the '39 hubcap clips that I could affix to my'46 wheels?
Thank you. Phil

There is a close match: Look for VW hubcap clips. You'll have to drill to mount the clips, but you know that.

Phil I attempted this on My 37 not long ago and failed to make it look right. When I bought the car it had Lincoln brakes on the rear and disc on the front and the 5x5.5 pattern. It is my family driver car and i prefer to leave the brakes. I wanted stock wheels and caps to look original I wound up buying a set of adapters on and used original wheels so in turn I can run the original caps. Of course this would mean you would have to swap wheels.

Damn! I should have checked into this a week ago. I just popped a grand for a set of 15" Cocker white walls that will be here Monday or Tuesday. I do have some original '39 wheels so next time I'll look into those adapters. That's the way to go. For now, maybe I'll try Alan's idea on the VW clips. Thank you both for the great advice.

If Drake has them, odds are they are from China and made from inferior spring stock.

That adapter is to use to balance wide 5s. I would not trust them to drive on. Bad karma.

Lawson,
Those adapters are used in racing. Modern Late Model stock cars use wide 5 wheels as well. The adapters I used are for racing purposes in adapting wide 5 wheels to the smaller pattern. When they are able to be used at 150mph I trust them on my car

The only small obstacle is they have a 5/8" stud. Dick Spadaro produced them with a 1/2" stud but I couldn't find any at the time and the 5/8 stud and taper of the 5/8" lug nuts seemed to match the taper on the wheels.
