Default Gearboxes a mystery? Mart lifts the lid on the 39 Ford 3 speed. A Sunday quickie.

Are the old manual transmissions a mystery to you? Don't worry, you won't get any uber tech in this one, just a very high level peek inside the venerable 39 Ford 3 speed.
These are very simple transmissions and most gearboxes up till this date use the same principles whether 4, 5, or 6 speed.
So get yourself a coffee while I share a few little demos showing how the gears are engaged and how the ratios are achieved.
This might be familiar to many people, and if so you can tell me if I go wrong. But for some it may shed some light on a rarely discussed subject.
The video is not long so your drink will still be warm at the end.
Check my other videos which are more in depth but hopefully you might find something interesting.
Cheers!
Mart.
