Default Head bolt question

on my 53 eab motor do I need to put thread sealant on the head bolts when reassembling????

Yes, it's a good precaution to take to prevent leaks, in my opinion. Use a cotten Q-tip" to apply sealant inside the threaded block holes too.

I prefer studs so that I can put Permatex on the threads and anti-seize on the shanks. Of course, you can do the same it might be a little tricky sliding the bolts down with both yucky materials on there at once.
